Welcome once more to Joan Dance Paintings the place that you may view the paintings of the Artist Joan Dance and also view the sayings of Jesus that saves us from the storms of life.
On today we have for your viewing pleasure the image “Creek Fishing”. In the image we see a man in the process of fishing. It appears that he is sitting and relaxed while performing the type of fishing called “Straight Line Fishing.”
This type of fishing is performed with the line able to be felt when the hook is hit, or the feeling of the fish biting the bait that is on the hook.
The art of catching the fish is based on the ability to, “Set the hook”, which is to feel the hook being hit and simultaneously pulling slightly up on the pole allowing the hook to be wedged in the fishes mouth therefore catching the fish since the fish can not slip the hook when it is set.
Slipping the hook results from when the fish takes the bait from the hook without being caught by the hook.
Attitude about The World
What should be our attitude about the world ?
Jesus says in Matt 5:10-12
10. Blessed are they that are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely , for my sake.
12. Rejoice and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
It is also written by Paul in his second letter to Timothy 2 Tim 3:12
Yea, and all that will live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
And Peter reminds us in 1 Peter 3:14
But, and if you suffer for righteousness’ sake happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled.
So
We know that when we love the Lord more than we love the world then the world will persecute us for loving the Lord more. Our attitude should be that we Love the Lord all the more. The backlash is worth the enduring for on the other side is eternity. This world is not our permanent home. The world cannot save us, only God can do that. We are traveling through this place and our final destination is home with the Lord God forever.
As we live in the world this truism becomes fainter the more involved we are with the world. We are to keep our focus on living as directed by The Lord God and not get side tracked in endless world interactions. We need our brothers and sisters to keep us grounded in the correct path. We need the interaction of one another to validate our existence here in this world while we are passing through. We are instructed to number our days that we might apply wisdom.
Conclusion
True Righteousness, is what is covered here. In particular our attitude about the world. When we control our attitudes concerning our self, our sins, the Lord, and the world, Righteousness follows like the day follows the night. When we think about ourself we think seriously about ourself, we think humbly, knowing that it was the Lord God that has made us and not we ourselves, remaining in our gifts and talents, that are given to us by the Father, and in our measure of faith, or in the amount of gifts and talent given by the Father. We morn over our sins, and then we confess them to God, who forgives us our sins, even though we still have to pay for any wrong done, we will not have to die for them. The wages of sin is truly death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ our Lord. Jesus takes those sins and gives us life in the sins place. We are to love the Lord God because He did first love us. For it is written, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes on Him should not perish but shall have eternal life.
The worlds persecution is an indication of our salvation because we would not be persecuted if we were not choosing the Lord God over the world. We are to be extremely pleased and joyous because of this fact.

Joan, thank you for sharing your thoughts on the importance of loving God above all else, even in the face of persecution from the world. Your message emphasizes that true righteousness comes from keeping our focus on God as we journey through this temporary life. While your convictions are clear, it’s important to acknowledge that people have differing beliefs. An attitude of humility, as you mention, along with respect for others, allows us to navigate a pluralistic world with grace. Ultimately, each person must discern their path in life according to their conscience and understanding. I appreciate you sharing your heartfelt perspective on this matter.
